The formation of a Black Republican Club of Rochester has originated from a focus group of Republicans who will represent, educate, and articulate answers to the cultural, educational, civic, and economical problems affecting the black, brown, and inner-city communities. As a group of Republicans, the Black Republican Club of Rochester will reach out to citizens in these communities, host small gatherings, have scheduled meetings, and organize community events lifting the ideals of entrepreneurship, free market capitalism, civic participation, responsible fatherhood initiatives, educational choice, crime prevention, and more.
As the Democratic platform embraces more socialist policies, many in these communities have become disenfranchised, vocalizing they do not have a fair choice of representation in government. Republicans have collectively started to strategize how to reach many of these citizens whose values align with the Republican platform. Historically, within the Republican Party, black and white individuals have worked together for the greater good of society. The formation of the Black Republican Club of Rochester is no different. At this juncture, it has been deemed culturally inexpedient for a black individual to adhere to the ideals of any party besides that of the Democratic Party. The treatment of the black individual as a monolithic vote must be addressed with clear and concise facts articulated by a group as the Black Republican Club of Rochester.
The Black Republican Club of Rochester will educate citizens on the rich local history that Black Republicans started from the ground up in Rochester, NY and how that history affects the Greater Rochester community today. A part of the education the BRC will engage in will include outreach initiatives that encourage and increase civic participation. Because of the growing need in the labor force and cost of higher education, apprentice and entrepreneurship programs are options that align with community leaders and the republican ideals. Reduction in gun violence is found to be connected to male mentorship programs and fatherhood initiatives. The BRC will be supporting such initiatives that seek to positively affect the community. The strongly held belief that Republicans are the party that does not participate in outreach will be dispelled by individuals that show up and care in these communities. The Black Republican Club of Rochester is a group focused on educating, making change in the community, and encouraging the growth of future black republican leaders.
